To add/amend your taxi/private-hire details email

In the UK, there are two types of taxis, Taxis and Private Hire. If you are phoning a company to arrange a ride, you will find that both types of vehicle are fully certified to provide the service. The subtle difference is that a Taxi can pick up any passengers from the roadside but a Private Hire can only collect passengers who have "booked". (Once you make a call to a Private Hire or Taxi company, they are both able to collect you immediately.)
 
Although maximum Taxi fares are controlled, you will find slight variations between companies. If requesting a taxi during a busy period, it is a good idea to book the taxi in advance. When making a long journey by taxi, you can often get a "good deal" by agreeing a fixed price for the journey when you make the booking.
 
Asking strangers to share a taxi is not normal practice, however, asking a taxi driver to collect a group of friends each of which will get off at a different destination is acceptable. Most local taxis accept a maximum of 4 passengers. Larger groups who phone the company, will usually find that either a larger vehicle or a bulk discount can be arranged.
 
Taxi and Private Hire vehicles can be any colour or make of car (or even a minibus!). All genuine vehicles will have an easily recognisable plaque near the rear number plate.
